Philadelphia Wedding at The Old Mill
Sammy Jo & Rocco
Sammy Jo and Rocco’s story began in middle school, where they were classmates in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania. Though it may sound like they are childhood sweethearts, they actually didn’t fall in love until years later. One night while home visiting family for the long Thanksgiving weekend, Sammy Jo and Rocco ran into each other while out one night and ended staying up all night talking. From that point, their love blossomed.
When we met these two, we knew right away they were a lot of fun. They constantly crack each other up and lovingly tease each other. They really are each other’s best friend. Sammy Jo is warm, open-hearted and so in-the-moment, it makes you want to join her. Rocco is friendly, determined, incredibly loving and dedicated to the people surrounding him. Together, they love traveling as much as they love staying home to cook, drink wine and stay up all night talking.
Their wedding day started in Philadelphia, a place they’ve called home for the past several years. They decided to have their first look at the First Bank of the United States, a grand historic building they often linger by on their neighborhood walks. For the festivities, Sammy Jo, Rocco and their wedding party left the city for the woods, to the Old Mill in Rose Valley. It was a perfect day in July, where you get lucky with a warm breeze instead of sweltering heat. Butterflies and birds and old stone walls gave a magical vibe, adding to the romance. Sammy Jo and Rocco said their personal vows outside surrounded by friends and family, the most important people in their lives.
Following a cocktail hour in the courtyard, guests headed inside for dinner and dancing. During his toast, Sammy Jo’s father teared up remembering his time as her “Superman”, a name he earned for his heroic way of always saving the day. He ended by telling Rocco that he was passing the torch, that he was Sammy Jo’s Superman now. As a gift to his new son-in-law, he gave Rocco a Superman t-shirt.
We are so honored that Sammy Jo, Rocco and their families allowed us to be part of their day. Since their wedding, Sammy Jo and Rocco went on honeymoon in Italy, and soon after, moved down to South Carolina to join the family business. To help bring some happy closure to this chapter, we caught them mid-move-out from their Philly apartment and surprised them with their wedding film. (Sammy Jo’s parents were luckily also there!) We are so excited for their next chapter!
